Yellow as Resistance is a natural dye workshop that explores the color yellow as a symbol of resistance and its entangled meanings across time. In Taoist cosmology, yellow is earth and the center of the universe, in ancient Chinese history it was a symbol of imperial power and in the 19th century it was weaponized in imperialist propaganda. Through collective making, we will meditate on our own associations with the color yellow and create our own imprints and stains on silk bandanas using an eco printing / steam dyeing technique. Oriental beauty oolong tea will be served along with light snacks.
All materials provided.
